Recently, Owen and Jack entered some photos into a show at the ProletariArt gallery in Georgetown. The theme was “Home”, and the kids took their own photos based on that theme and titled the photos themselves.
Today was their public viewing during the Art Attack art walk in Georgetown.
Before the art walk, the gallery had a reception for the young artists (all had to be under 10-years-old) and their families. Both boys were excited to see their artwork on the walls, but Owen was especially pleased.
This is what we noticed on one of Owen’s pieces when we walked in. See that red dot in the corner?
That means SOLD!
Owen was quite pleased when he received his commission from the gallery owner, Melissa. One dollar! (Right now Owen is focusing on getting his work out into the public. The big bucks will roll in sometime after he is 6 or 7, I’m sure.)
Owen celebrated by running around outside and yelling and jumping.
He then proceeded to put his dollar in the sewer drain.
But saved it at the last minute.
A little overzealous excitement with a jar of bubbles resulted in a wardrobe change…
Then all turned serious when the buyers of the photo (who we do not know) came back to claim their masterpiece. They were excited to meet the artist, and wanted a picture with him, and to talk with him about his photo. Owen answered all of their questions very seriously, and with great poise.
A final handshake, and the art connoisseurs left with their masterpiece.
Here are a few of the other artists in the show.
Oh yes, and below is a copy of the photo that Owen sold:
That was SO much fun!! I stole a few of yours to fill in some blanks in my slideshow...here you go: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=158208&id=617208353&l=24103bb15b
ReplyDeleteSuch rich meanings - the space between babyhood and the "big boy" seat is full of pain... being a super hero isn't all it's cracked up to be... you could go on and on :) It went for only $1? :) I've gotta know though, did Jack know he was adding such depth to the photo? :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Congratulations Owen! Nice work!
