Most of the time that Eric spent with the boys, I was in London. But we did have a day on either side where we did some things together.
Before London, we went to the ropes course to see if the adults were as brave as the monkeys. (we were – though Owen has told me at least 5 times that Eric screamed all the way across the first zip line. Forget that the “scream” was more like a war whoop….Owen loves to say “scream”)(Jack is protesting leaving by denying you the ability to see the sparkle in his eyes.)
The day after my return we went to Disneyland and revisit all of the rides that we went on two years ago. Jack no longer liked the scary rides that he enjoyed last time, but Owen likes them now. Go figure.
Eric went off alone for the last day of his trip (while I packed a suitcase for him to carry to Seattle for us.) After one last coffee, off he went…
“Bye, Daddy! Bye Daddy!! Daddy, you’re going the wrong way!”
After Eric turned around and headed for the correct train to the airport, the monkeys directed us to Luxembourg Park.
The monkey played and met new friends and I studied the GRE material. At lunchtime we grabbed a fresh baguette from the bakery to add to the lunch we brought from home. We looked for a good picnic place and found a new quiet spot and had a lovely lunch.
Afterwards we looked up, and who was looking down at us??
We thought this was especially fitting. Not just because it represents America and was a gift from France. But also because it represents Eric, who was landing in New York today and just might be looking at another Lady Liberty Statue!
