Euro Disney Returns

We were able to convince the monkeys to go on some rides at Disneyland today.  We went mostly tame, but tried two with a little scarier movement (“scarier” meant in the very tamest form possible).  Jack really liked the Peter Pan ride, and went three times; Owen didn’t like that it was dark and you never knew which way they were going to take you- he goes for predictability (so he rode once).    Owen liked the Star Wars ride which was a big flight simulator with a video at the front.  It was pretty rough.  Jack was NOT going back on, and Owen politely declined though he insisted that it was his favorite.

The ride that we all liked the most was the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast.  You ride two people to a rocket, and each have your own laser gun.  It is like being in your own video game as there are targets all along the path that your rocket “flies” and your score is recorded in front of you as you hit targets.  The monkeys loved having their own guns which made shooting noises, and Eric and I –with our slightly competitive natures – were determined to get more points than the other.  I have to say that I kicked Eric’s a**!! Of course, Eric insisted we go on the ride again…and he did beat me that time, but I still had the highest score from the first game.  He wants to go again tomorrow (of course) and I may just refuse – just to drive him insane.

Later in the day we made our way over to Walt Disney Studios.  We watched a show with many of the Disney characters, and a Playhouse Disney show with large puppet characters that was fun.  The other two things we did were pretty boring, and we will stick with Euro Disney for the rest of the time we are here.

Unfortunately we didn’t bring our camera to the park today – so no photos – but we will take it tomorrow.

Last night Jack played for over an hour in bed singing and talking to himself.  Today he has been in bed for less than five minutes and is already out – cold.

Side note:

The prices here at Disney are insane!  We knew they would be, but it is even worse than we thought.  A small bottle of water or soda is almost $4 and the weather is in the 80’s so we can’t exactly tell the monkeys to stop drinking water...  We ate dinner at McDonalds  tonight only because it was the cheapest thing we could find.  It cost over $30 for our 4 meals.  The cheapest restaurant is at least twice that much and more often 3 times that not including drinks.  The restaurant that we would pay $60 is an “Old Country Buffet” style – yum.

I am looking forward to going to downtown Paris on Wednesday and buying an amazing French meal.
